Brief sentence to describe yourself | Half-Mexican easygoing nerd McLovin lookalike that dances at parties and is doing my part to birth a new world through union organizing. My friends would describe me as smart, funny, sincere and humble if somewhat anxious and disorganized. |

Music | Recent new listening: My Bloody Valentine, Mago de Oz, Tia Blake, Los Angeles Azules My old standbys: David Bowie, Amparo Ochoa, the Magnetic Fields, Gorillaz |
Books | I am not a prolific book reader, but I am currently working through The Stories of John Cheever. My most favorite fiction in no particular order has been Dubliners, The Once and Future King, Persepolis, and lots of Terry Pratchett books. I also like reading about history, politics, and philosophy. |
Film/TV | Film: Come and See, Chinatown, Salt of the Earth, the works of Satoshi Kon and Pedro Almodovar, Barry Lyndon, Goodfellas TV: The Simpsons, 30 Rock, Jeopardy These are my top favorites but I like lots of different kinds of movies and TV shows. I appreciate less digestable artsy stuff too. |
Interests/hobbies | Hiking (want to get more into backpacking when time permits), cooking, geography, sometimes I do some painting and drawing. I like museums, parks, taking walks and have taken up a little bit of pool this past year. (I am not very good at it) |

Anything else you want to share | Maybe it's a turnoff for some but I'm a very political person and I dedicate a lot of my life to organizing my union and politicizing my coworkers. I'm not a news addict and I'm not interested in masturbatory argumentation and moralist shunning that fuels the ego to fight the culture war. I have strong beliefs that I intellectually hone and take seriously. From that I work to bring the people I spend 40 hours a week with into something greater. |
