Music | These days mostly deep and ambient techno, world music, and music made with primitive instruments (think didgeridoo and jaw harp), especially stuff with a religious or spiritual bent
Techno: Luigi Tozzi, Hydrangea, Feral, Forest on Stasys, Claudio PRC, Acronym, Anthony Linell, Hypnotic Black Magic, Aksamit Other: Karsh Kale, Barra & Govinda, Mark Atkins, Midival Punditz, Muslimgauze, OM, Kikagaku Moyo, Adele Blanchin, Shpongle |
Books | I read primarily stuff on philosophy, religion, and paranormal phenomena, and fiction relating to those. I'm always shilling these on the sub: The Art of Loving by Erich Fromm, Capitalism and Desire by Todd McGowan, In the Buddha's Words: An Anthology of Discourses from the Pali Canon by Bhikkhu Bodhi, The Wisdom of the Desert: Sayings from the Desert Fathers by Thomas Merton, The Technological Society by Jacques Ellul, The Burnout Society by Byung-Chul Han, The Undiscovered Self by Jung, Amusing Ourselves to Death by Neil Postman
I'm a buddhist but I read all sorts of religious stuff, lately mostly christian but I'm most familiar with buddhism and hinduism. Although I read widely I'm opposed to eclecticism and perennialism, and enjoy reading critiques of new age stuff as well as critiques of technology and modernity more broadly from a religious lens Two people I really like I have yet to mention are Baudrillard and Nagarjuna |
Film/TV | Movies: Robinson's Garden, The Nine Lives of Tomas Katz, The Color of Pomegranates, Cemetery of Splendor, The Big Lebowski, The Holy Mountain, Office Space, The Hourglass Sanatorium, The Jerk, Greener Grass
TV: Nathan For You, How To with John Wilson, Nirvanna the Band the Show, Joe Pera Talks with You, Mad Men, The X Files, Twin peaks |
Interests/hobbies | Cooking, bowling, tossing a frisbee around, playing cards, playing pool. I like learning about other cultures through their food/cooking and religious beliefs |
